EKO Spring Symposium’s Poster Presentation Tells the Developmental Health Story
April 10, 2025
Program Partner AlayaCare provides the tools for each agency’s narrative
At the EKO Spring Symposium 2025, Empowered Kids Ontario recognizes outstanding work and innovation that impacts delivery of care to kids with disabilities and developmental needs. The Poster Presentation puts the work of developmental health leaders, professionals, researchers, students and trainees on display, April 16 & 17, at the Sheraton Centre Toronto’s Provincial Ballroom South. Presenters can also have their poster available to delegates through the EKO Spring Symposium app, generating interest and conversation in advance of the in-person conference.
“Poster presenters will gain valuable exposure and connect with colleagues from Ontario and across Canada,” says Jennifer Churchill, EKO President & CEO. “We’re grateful to AlayaCare, our Program Partner. We’re bringing the wider developmental health community together to explore innovations and solutions developed over months of investigation, design, and testing.”
Symposium attendees are invited to visit the AlayaCare-ia – a permanent fixture throughout the event and a space to meet talk with the AlayaCare team and enjoy program breaks. Delegates can stop by during the Opening Night Reception as well—and even have their likeness captured by caricature artists!
“As members of the communities you serve, AlayaCare is proud to return as a sponsor for the EKO Spring Symposium,” says Chris Kierstead, Regional Director at AlayaCare. “We are parents, neighbours, friends, and family of those who rely on the developmental healthcare you provide. Every day, we strive to live up to our mission of empowering agencies to improve the lives of kids and families. We want to express our deepest appreciation for those of you here today for the incredible work you do.”
Delegates are also invited to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award, recognizing outstanding content, contributions, creativity and design. The EKO Spring Symposium 2023 Poster People’s Choice Award went to McMaster Children’s Hospital Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre for Welcome Groups: an opportunity for early intervention and family connection. The Ron Joyce Team’s poster described how a multidisciplinary team, working together with families, reviews a child’s strengths and needs while kids participate in recreation activities. The approach enables observation, collaboration, and facilitates engagement, promoting connection to other families in a comfortable environment to share stories, ask questions, and learn more about services including how to navigate them.
The EKO Spring Symposium 2025 will highlight another round of impressive projects tackling complex challenges in developmental health. The Poster Presentation is a chance to discover new ideas and celebrate achievement across the sector.
