Presenting Partner: Levio
Want to know what “Join Teams” really means?
Join us for EKO’s popular speed networking against the clock, or as we like to call it – the Schmooza Palooza! Have a good time getting to know and chatting with colleagues old and new.
Never participated in speed networking before? No problem—you’re not alone! This fun, fast-paced, 1-to-1 session is an energizing and powerful way to start great conversations in a short amount of time. By the end of the session, everyone will have made several connections, refined their networking and conversation skills, and added to their career toolkit. You’ll connect with colleagues, emerging leaders, and mentors from across the province in an enjoyable environment, to talk about whatever is on your mind about the professional road ahead.
Thanks to EKO Spring Symposium 2023 Presenting Partner Levio, exclusive partner for this event.
Tips for Speed Networking
We put the speed in speed networking and time will go fast and the volume gets LOUD. Preparation is key. Here are some simple suggestions to help you get the most out of the EKO Schmooza Palooza:
- Determine your objectives. Do you want to simply get to know colleagues from different agencies? Are you hoping to meet a mentor or someone to mentor? Do you have specific questions about working in the developmental health sector? Maybe you want to get involved in provincial activities. Think about what you want to get from the event, so you can focus your questions and conversation.
- Prepare an elevator speech – a brief description of who you are and what you do. Plan to introduce yourself in just 10 to 15 seconds - your name and title, a brief explanation about what you do, and why you are speed networking.
- Time will go very fast – be sure both partners have a chance to talk.
- Ask questions. Not sure how to get the conversation going? How about: chocolate or vanilla? Dogs or cats? Pineapple on pizza?
- Keep your camera ready! Just take a photo of your partners’ nametags so you can follow up! You can even DM them using the EKO Spring Symposium app!
- Take notes. This will help you retain information, especially names and shared ideas.
- Make a plan to follow up after the session – at the EKO Spring Symposium or after!
