full potential and participate as fully as possible in the life of our
community.
Our Story
Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre, part of Quinte Health, is one of 21 Children's Treatment Centres in Ontario funded through the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Our main facility is located in the Charlotte Sills Wing of Quinte Health - Belleville Site, with satellite locations at Trenton Memorial Hospital and Bancroft Hospital. Since 1977 Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre has provided a range of child development and rehabilitation services for children and youth with special needs, and their families, residing in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. We strive to provide equitable, family-centred care which places the voices of children, youth, and families at the centre of their planning. A key framework used is the F Words for child development: https://canchild.ca/en/research-in-practice/f-words-in-childhood-disability.
Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre services include Coordinated Service Planning, social-emotional-behavioural support, FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) workers, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, social work, psychometry and medical services for children and youth with multiple special needs. We promote the importance of a healthy self-image for every child, gained through successful integration into their home, school and community settings. Providing "Tier 1" (capacity building for families and service providers) and "Tier 2" (e.g. group supports, often in partnership with other service providers) is key to our approach.
Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre is the SmartStart Hub as well as the Coordinating Agency for Coordinated Service Planning in Hastings Prince Edward.
