We care for kids with disabilities, kids needing rehabilitation after illness or trauma, kids whose medical complexity requires a kind of care they can’t get elsewhere. Every day, our frontline staff embrace kids with boundless potential and their families and ask “how can we help you achieve your goals?” With a mix of services not offered anywhere else in Ontario, we partner to provide the best interprofessional care within our walls and to prepare families for life beyond them. Our Story
Our history dates back to the last days of the 19th century when, thanks to the foresight and determination of a group of dedicated women, a facility for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses opened on Avenue Road in Toronto.
As it evolved, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital underwent significant changes through the generations, with many locations and name changes along the way. What hasn’t changed, though, is the support of a caring and compassionate community whose contributions have helped create a world-class hospital with a vision to create “a world of possibility."
At Holland Bloorview we believe in creating a world where all youth and children belong. We are the only children’s rehabilitation hospital in Canada focused on combining world-class care, transformational research, and academic leadership in the field of pediatric disability. We help over 8,500 kids and youth with disabilities and complex medical needs access care that focuses on their physical, mental and emotional well-being, and we power their infinite potential and possibility.

Our People/Our Team
Our team is comprised of more than 900 staff members who occupy full-time, part-time and casual positions. Annually, youth and their families from across Ontario benefit from our outpatient clinics, hospital care, assistive technology services, community outreach initiatives and our commitment to client- and family-centred care.
