Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide high quality mental health and autism services and supports to individuals and families within an inclusive environment that inspires hope and strengthens lives.

Our vision is to be a leading provider of mental health and autism services in Ontario, ensuring everyone has a voice, feels valued, and has a sense of belonging.

Our Story

Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services has a rich history dating back to 1853 when the Sisters of St. Joseph established orphanages in Hamilton. Over time, the focus shifted from orphanages to mental health care, leading to the incorporation of Woodview in 1960. The 1970s saw the introduction of new methodologies, including residential and day treatment services. The 1980s and 1990s marked further expansion, including the establishment of Woodview Manor for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In response to evolving community needs, the 2000s saw a shift towards community-based mental health programs and expanded services for children with autism. The 2010s brought significant milestones, including the opening of The Mischa Weisz Centre for Autism Services and Woodview becoming the Lead Agency for Child and Youth Mental Health in Brant in 2015.

Today, Woodview operates from its Burlington head office with satellite offices in Burlington, Georgetown, Hamilton, and Brantford, serving the communities of Halton, Hamilton, and Brantford. The organization is committed to supporting children and youth facing mental health challenges and individuals with autism, placing them and their families at the center of all we do. Woodview embraces diversity, treats everyone with dignity and respect, and works to remove barriers to engagement in services.

Woodview is dedicated to responding to community needs by providing quality mental health and autism services that focus on skill-building, coping strategies, relationships, independence, and resilience. The organization offers a continuum of flexible services and tracks performance to ensure effectiveness.

Mental Health Programs include day treatment, outreach, intensive services, early identification and intervention, counseling, small group therapy, respite services, caregiver peer support, and youth engagement.Autism Programs feature center-based services, family skill development, skills groups, on-demand webinars, Woodview Learning Centre (an alternative school for students with autism), day programs for adults with autism, and residential and supported independent living for adults with autism.
