The state-of-the-art Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre (RJCHC) is a secondary site of McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH), one of the top children's hospitals in Canada and recognized globally. MCH opened in 1972, and is one of only three children's hospitals in Ontario.

The RJCHC site offers outpatient services focused on child rehabilitation and developmental, behavioural, and mental health. Its prosthetics and orthotics program – the largest in the country – serves both children and adults across Canada.

Mission Statement

Our Story

In 2021/22, the McMaster Children's Hospital Autism Program launched both the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) Caregiver-Mediated Early Years Services and the OAP Entry to School Services as regional lead, while also becoming the primary provider of OAP Urgent Response Services in the Hamilton area. In addition, 860 unique children and youth received service through OAP Foundational Family Services at the RJCHC.

As of April 1, 2022, McMaster Children’s Hospital, one of 21 Children’s Treatment Centres/Surrey Place across Ontario, is now designated as an MCCSS SmartStart Hubs to streamline early access and identification, build stronger connections with formal and informal partner providers, and support for families that focus on strengths and needs. These services are also located at the RJCHC.
