Meet the 2024 Empowered Kids Ontario Scholars
September 09, 2024
Empowered Kids Ontario-Enfants Avenir Ontario (EKO) is pleased to announce our EKO Scholarship recipients for 2024, an impressive and promising group of talented youth enrolled in colleges and universities in Ontario’s north, east, and south. The 2024 EKO Scholars are studying business, political science, criminal justice and public policy, education and sociology, computer science, biology, police services, and history.
EKO increased the award to $3,000 this year as well as the number of scholarships from six to eight. With the 2024 scholarships, EKO has awarded more than $125,000 since the program began in 2011.
“While EKO advances developmental health policies, programs, and investments every day, our association is also deeply concerned that persons with disabilities have a significantly lower employment rate—62 per cent—according to Statistics Canada,” says EKO Chair Tina Langlois.
“That commitment drives our support of the next generation of talent in every field, because nothing should stand in the way of promising young Ontarians pursuing their career goals.”
“Scholarships play a pivotal role in empowering the pursuit of educational and career dreams,” adds Jennifer Churchill, EKO CEO. “We are proud that our association extends a hand this year to eight remarkable young Ontarians who represent the curiosity, energy, and creativity of today’s youth.”
