EKO announces newest member – Woodview Mental Health & Autism Services
April 09, 2024
Empowered Kids Ontario (EKO) is proud to announce Woodview Mental Health & Autism Services as its newest member, with Executive Director Flora Ennis joining EKO’s Leadership Council.
EKO represents Ontario’s child development sector—the centres that provide leading clinical treatment and support so kids with disabilities and developmental differences and their families can live their best lives. EKO programs foster bold leadership and innovation, building on strong foundations that ensure Ontario continues to set the bar for all aspects of child development.
As we continue to broaden our membership and impact on child development and children’s health, we are thrilled to have Woodview Mental Health & Autism Services join Empowered Kids Ontario,” says EKO CEO Jennifer Churchill.
Disabilities and developmental delays are common. According to the 2015 report Every Ninth Child: A Cost Benefit Analysis for Investing in the Care of Special Needs Children and Youth in Ontario, one in nine kids has a disability or developmental delay, which can have profound impacts on a child and families’ quality of life and social integration. EKO promotes policies, programs, and innovative approaches to care so all Ontario kids and families can live their best lives.
EKO is at the forefront of innovation and the sustainability of Ontario’s child development sector and children’s health, as a founding member of the Children’s Health Coalition which delivers every kind of care a child could need for their physical, developmental, mental health and well-being.
"Empowering children and families to thrive is at the heart of everything we do,” says Flora Ennis, Executive Director of Woodview Mental Health & Autism Services. "We have a unique position as one of Ontario’s providers of high-quality mental health and autism services and supports for children, youth, adults and their families. We're delighted to join Empowered Kids Ontario, and the exciting, positive opportunities to enhance our collective impact on child development and children's health."
