EKO seeks candidates for volunteer Board of Directors

Empowered Kids Ontario-Enfants Avenir Ontario (EKO) is seeking volunteer leaders to join our Board of Directors for a three-year term beginning November 2023.

EKO is a federally incorporated registered charitable member organization dedicated to kids with disabilities living their best lives. A founding member of the Children’s Health Coalition, EKO represents a growing membership of publicly supported child development and rehabilitation agencies, and is the provincial voice for evidence-based insights on policy, programs and investment in the sector.

Dedicated to the association’s mission, our Directors champion exceptional board leadership. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board directors, EKO board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the association and the sector.

The Board is looking for leaders who share a commitment to our mission, vision and values, and who bring skills and experience in one or more of the following:

  • Skills/experience in or understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, auditing and/or analyzing financial statements, managing strategic direction, financial performance, and risk management needs
  • Not for profit management
  • As a recognized leader and as a client, caregiver, researcher, or service provider in the child development and pediatric rehabilitation sector

EKO welcomes the unique contributions that candidates can bring in terms of their professional and lived experience, and encourages applications that represent the communities they serve. We invite participation from a variety of backgrounds with an interest in moving our mission, vision and values forward. In particular we encourage perspectives of Indigenous, Black and People of Colour, Trans, Non-Binary, LGBTQ2S.
