Empowered Kids Ontario (EKO) welcomes new member Lake Ridge Community Support Services.
Whitby Ontario-based Lake Ridge Community Support Services provides evidence-based, individualized behaviour therapy service to support children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, with a mission to give all individuals the opportunity to reach their unique potential.
Founded in 1986, Lake Ridge offers a range of services including Intensive Behaviour Therapy, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Behaviour consultation, caregiver training and education, social skills groups, adult education groups, and professional education.
“This is an organization that has demonstrated its ability to be nimble and responsive to individual’s needs in a changing landscape. Their expanding offerings for children and youth address topical concerns for kids through programs like Dating 101, Cybersecurity, and How to Be on Social Media. This puts them at the forefront, defining new pathways in programming,” says EKO CEO Jennifer Churchill. “Additionally Lake Ridge’s experience with the transition from the children’s system to adult services will also bring important learnings to share with all EKO members.”
“Membership in EKO brings us the connection and communication that will further promote the delivery of our mission,” says Executive Director Sandie Hoskin. “We are closely aligned with partners in the Durham Region and beyond. Our membership in EKO will help us be part of the planning to ensure programs are successful for our community, and for communities across the province.”
EKO recently welcomed several new organizations as members, ensuring the association represents the comprehensive range of child development and rehabilitation services as Ontario works to build capacity to serve the province’s growing demand for care at home, in schools and in the community.
