Call for Posters


The EKO Spring Symposium 2020 provides a unique forum for members of Ontario’s child development and rehabilitation sector to network and present their research and service-centred projects. We invite you to submit research and project presentations covering topics including (but not limited to):

  • Recent innovations to support client-focused practices and their application in services and programming for kids with disabilities and their families
  • Research, case studies and their potential impact on child development and service delivery
  • Best practices in engaging the family voice, building customer affinity, transitions to a market-based system of delivering public services

The submission deadline is January 24, 2020 at 5:00 pm.

Please submit an abstract (up to 250 words), which describes the main idea, the practical relevance, and its innovative, scientific and/or societal impact, using the Poster Abstract Submission Form.

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by members of the EKO Spring Symposium Planning Committee. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present a poster at the Symposium.

All accepted abstracts will be displayed on the EKO Spring Symposium 2020 website.

Poster Session Details and Requirements

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to discuss your research and projects with leaders in Ontario’s child development and rehabilitation sector during the Poster Display times in the exhibit hall
  • An opportunity to be recognized with a People’s Choice Award for Best Poster.

Poster Requirements:

  • Poster title
  • The presenting author(s)* name, position, organization
    *Presenting authors: please indicate if your organizations are current members of EKO-EAO
  • Please format the poster as follows:
    • Standard poster size
    • Layout may be Landscape or Portrait
    • Materials: Paper-based (with matte finish or coated paper) or foam-core (excluding tri-folds)
  • Information to include:
    • The top of each poster is the title area which includes: Research/Project Title, Author(s), email, and agency/organization
    • Purpose of research/project
    • Method
    • Findings
    • 3 to 4 key words/themes
  • A business card holder can be attached to the poster; no tables will be provided.
  • Adhesive materials and a workspace will be available for assembling posters in the EKO Spring Symposium staff office.
  • Submit poster during check in at the registration desk.

Presenter Compensation:

Poster participation includes discounted registration for the EKO Spring Symposium 2020 for the poster presenter. Lead presenters are asked to inform co-presenters of this policy.

Poster Presentation Sessions

Authors should arrive in time to assemble their posters for display before the first scheduled poster display session begins. Please check with the Registration Desk as to where you should set up your poster. Poster mounting stands will be provided along with push pins for you to secure your poster.

The presenter is responsible for assembling your poster board and removing the poster. EKO will not be held responsible for any posters left after the EKO Spring Symposium 2020 has ended.

Display Times:

Posters will be displayed at the EKO Spring Symposium Poster Display Area in the exhibit hall throughout the Symposium. Designated attended poster sessions will also be on the program schedule. Poster presenters are expected to be available to discuss their posters with Symposium attendees during these scheduled times for a minimum of 30 minutes during each session. To be eligible for People’s Choice Award for Best Poster Presentation, presenters must be available during the scheduled sessions.

People’s Choice Award

The People’s Choice Award for the Best Poster Presentation will be presented at the closing session. The winner is determined by ballot submissions received by all EKO Spring Symposium 2020 attendees.
