The Empowered Kids Ontario Scholarship Program

The Empowered Kids Ontario Scholarship Program helps kids with disabilities go after their dreams, providing support so they can reach their education and career goals.

EKO Scholars have accomplished what their peers strive to do: succeed and pursue life’s challenges. The program is available to youth who have benefited from services and supports offered by an EKO member organization, demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and volunteerism in their community and/or in their extra-curricular activities, and are pursuing post-secondary education at college, university, Indigenous Institutes, or at a career training program.

This year EKO is pleased to offer a scholarship available to Indigenous students. This brings the total to six awards available for Ontario students pursuing their career-training or higher education goals.

Each award is valued at $2,500.

Since 2011, Empowered Kids Ontario has recognized more than 50 outstanding youth as EKO Scholars. Students who have received support through the EKO Scholarship Program have attended and are currently enrolled in colleges and universities across Ontario, including Queen’s University, University of Waterloo, St. Clair College, Confederation College, Laurentian University, York University, Western University, University of Ottawa, and Carleton University.

Applications for the 2021 EKO Scholarship are now closed. Applications for the 2022 EKO Scholarships open February 7, 2022.
