Applications for the 2024 EKO Scholarship are accepted beginning December 1, 2023. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
To submit your application, follow these steps:
- Complete the application form.
- Tell us about yourself. You can do this by writing an essay of no more than 750 words, or through a creative project. You can use any medium you like to express yourself - music, visual art, a recorded performance, a short story. Whichever you choose, this is your chance to show us why you are a good fit for the EKO Scholarship. You can tell us about someone who has inspired you, whether that’s someone you know, a historical figure or a fictional character. You might describe your career goals and plans for your future, or what impact the scholarship will have for you.
- Provide a letter from the EKO General Member organization where you received services verifying that you were a client.
- Submit two letters of recommendation from people who know you. This could be a teacher, a friend, a relative, someone you’ve worked with…someone you feel will help us get to know more about you.
Applications must be filled out completely – unfortunately, we cannot accept incomplete applications.

To qualify, you must be a:
- Canadian citizen
- Canadian First Nations, Métis, or Inuit
- Permanent resident/landed immigrant
- Convention refugee, or protected person living in Canada, as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
There are six (6) EKO scholarship awards available. Canadian First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth are eligible for any of the six awards, including the EKO Scholarship for Indigenous students.
